Moodle System for the  Academic Year 2025 – תשפ”ו

The Moodle system for the academic year is 2025 available at: https://moodle25.technion.ac.il/ (Green color theme).

Access to systems from previous years is available via the “Other Years” links in the top navigation bar.
Please note: you must log in separately to each system.
Password change/reset for campus/Technion users is done exclusively in the Technion account system. Please see the instructions of the Division of Computing and Information Systems on this subject here.


Faculty Access to Course Sites

If a course site is not available to lecturers and/or teaching assistants after logging in, please check with your faculty teaching coordinator that you are listed in the Miskal (SAP) system as part of the course teaching staff.
You can manually add additional staff members if needed.

Preparing the Course Site for a New Semester

  • publishing the course description and syllabus – Publish an updated syllabus in the course description and upload it as a file in the top course section .
  • You can copy content from course sites from previous years or other courses you have taught.
  • You may hide or delete content that should not yet be visible to students.
  • Ensure the site is open to learners and accessible to them.

Key Resources to Support Communication, Accessibility, and Flexible Learning

  • First steps – Guidelines for adding files, links, and embedding videos on the site.
  • Communications with students – Forums:
    • Use the Message board to share information with learners.
    • You may add additional forums for communication, community-building, questions to the teaching team, and group work.
    • It’s also possible to add an anonymous forum.
  • Assignments:
    • Set up online submissions following the instructions in Activities and Assessments.
    • For group submissions (pairs, triplets, etc.), follow the [guidelines here].
    • You can set individual or group-specific submission deadlines as needed [guidelines here].
    • Guidelines for online grading are available [here].
  • Quizzes:
    • Can be used as homework or self-learning assignments.
    • Custom deadlines can also be defined for specific students or groups.

Interactive and Assessment Tools

  • PollEverywhere:
    The Technion holds a license for PollEverywhere, a tool that enables real-time interaction with students during class.

  • Gradescope:
    The Technion also has a license for Gradescope, which supports submission and grading of written and coding assignments.

Backups


Zoom

Zoom can be used to:

  • Broadcast classes live for students unable to attend,
  • Record sessions and post them on the course site for flexible learning.

Please ensure you sign in to Zoom with your Technion account.

  • Instructions for creating a Zoom meeting on the course site are available [here].
    (If creating a meeting for another staff member, set them as co-host.)
  • Start the meeting at the beginning of class.
  • Record to the cloud and post the recording afterward.

Panopto

  • Instructions for logging in to the video management system and your personal folder, where recordings from your Technion Zoom account are automatically stored.
  • You can upload video files from your personal computer to Panopto and share them on Moodle.
  • All files in your personal folder are under your full control, and you can set their sharing permissions.
    • If students cannot access a shared recording, please check the sharing settings.
  • Please delete unnecessary or non-academic files from the system.
    • Note: There is a retention policy — recordings with no views for one year are archived, and after another year, they are permanently deleted with no recovery option.
