Training for new teaching assistants

Training Program for New Teaching Assistants

New teaching assistants and lab instructors at the Technion participate in a training program that exposes them to innovative pedagogical approaches, technological tools for teaching and learning, and important practical skills for effective teaching in the classroom and the lab.

The training sessions take place twice a year, before the winter semester and before the spring semester.

The training includes three components:

1. A Seminar Day – which includes workshops with the active participation of the teaching assistants led by the staff of the Center for Promotion of Learning and Teaching.
2. Micro-Teaching Workshop – an active workshop in small groups that includes practical teaching experience and peer feedback.
3. Ongoing Semester Support – Observations of teaching sessions, reflection, and feedback.

Following the training process, and as needed, additional observations or personal guidance may take place to further promote the teaching skills of the teaching assistants.
